Advanced sealing concepts in level measurement
No environmental or personal safety issues with toxic and dangerous liquids
Challenge
Toxic or aggressive chemicals such as ammonia or chlorine pose a threat to workers’ health as well as plant safety, if they leak from the process through the probe or antenna connection.
Solution
To avoid product spillage and keep plant staff safe, KROHNE radar and guided radar level transmitters can be equipped with advanced sealing systems as a second line of defence. This includes either a METAGLAS® metal fused glass as a second barrier sealing system or a ceramic sealing system for temperatures above +150°C / +302°F.
Safety benefits
Second line of defence for increased occupational and plant safety when handling dangerous liquids
Different sealing systems for OPTIWAVE and OPTIFLEX level transmitters prevent plant personnel from harmful situations with toxic or aggressive liquids
No risk of leakage with dual sealing systems
Risk of plant shutdown for safety reasons reduced
No failure of measurement due to intrusion of vapours or liquids into the electronics
Tried and tested risk prevention:
More than 10,000 level transmitters with a METAGLAS® second barrier sealing system installed worldwide, tested at pressures up to
100 barg / 1450 psig
